Snowpack Gonzo: Down to 4% of average
The literal half-ass winter (we finished off winter in the 50% area) combined with a generally warm spring has shrunk the Sierra Snowpack down to just 4% of what it should be for today. This latest heat wave sets us up for an abnormally dry brush and timber fuel condition. With potential lightning later in the week and an entire long and dry summer ahead, we have the potential for significantly higher than normal fire conditions. If you are a smoker... this would be a good time to quit.
